The South Korean health care market offers German companies many business opportunities. Key drivers include the high purchasing power of the country's 52 million inhabitants, the rapid aging of the population due to a birth rate of only 0.78, the efficient health care system and the expanding range of services coverd by its public health insurance. The free trade agreement with the European Union (EU), which has been in place since 2011, has accelerated the trade volume between Germany and Korea to over 34 billion Euro in 2022. Korea ist Germany's second-largest export market in Asia.
